TCGS Choreboard

Last year, members provided input on how to ensure participation in the maintenance and care of our community garden.  It was pretty much a balance on whether to have more frequent work parties, or for members to take on specific, ongoing garden chores.  The society decided on a hybrid plan.  We came up with 18 general chores, and our work parties will be project focussed.  Here's our chore board, a modge-podge of photos clipped from West Coast Seeds' 2016 catalogue, with hooks and cards in place making it easy-peezy for members to select a chore.

"I would like to extend a special thank you to last year's executive, Janet, Danielle and Jason for their time and hard work they devoted to the executive and TCG this past year, your support will be missed.  Also to Silvie for taking over the secretary and treasurer position last year.  I look forward to working alongside the new executive and

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Farm to School garden plot needs to be prepared for Spring planting for the school’s soup and salad program.

This will involve moving soil with shovels and a wheelbarrow, and some simple carpentry. Raised beds will be oriented for optimum sun exposure and one bed will be dedicated as a perennial Asparagus Patch.  Forty five asparagus crowns are coming sometime in March, so we could really use some help.

Community members, older students or parents who are able to pitch in and help for a half day, please call Terry Fassbender at 6460. A strong back is helpful. Terry will coordinate a (sunny) day that works for everyone.

And, a heartfelt thanks to Karli Yanchus, Tahsis Farm to School Coordinator, for providing funds for the F2S asparagus crowns.
